Sage Rehabilitation Hospital and Outpatient Services proudly presents Sage’s Parkinson’s Outreach and Wellness Program supported by a community grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation.
A FREE one-hour, bimonthly program consisting of high intensity exercise, education, and social engagement specifically tailored to people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and parkinsonism diagnoses and their caregivers.
This program will provide:
- High intensity exercise to address the motor and non-motor symptoms of PD.
- Social engagement with others in the PD community.
- Education and access to local and national PD resources for all communities across Louisiana.
- Guest speakers with varying specialties in PD related topics such as diet, cognition, mental health, medication management, etc.
No prior training or therapy is required to participate in the program. Skilled physical, occupational & speech therapists with various years of clinical experience working with the PD population have designed and will administer this unique program that is adaptable for all performance and physical activity levels.
This program will consist of a total of 20 sessions from September 2021 through June 2022. Please note that program attendance is mandatory for all 20 sessions, with exception given extenuating circumstances.
This program will have limited in person spots, approximately 8-10, available at Sage Rehabilitation Hospital and Outpatient Services located at 8313 Picardy Ave in Baton Rouge. Participation virtually will also be available through a Zoom link to allow access for approximately 40 other participants throughout Louisiana.
A working email address will be required for all participants to receive access to the Zoom link (if participating virtually), consent forms, homework/educational materials, and updates regarding the program.
