A one-hour, bimonthly program consisting of high intensity exercise, education, and social engagement specifically tailored to people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and parkinsonism diagnoses. This program is unique to the Baton Rouge community, as it is currently the only program designed and implemented by skilled physical, occupational and speech therapists with multiple Parkinson’s specific certifications.
This program will provide:
- Evidence-based, PD specific, high intensity exercise adaptable to all performance levels to address the motor and non-motor symptoms of PD.
- Social engagement with others in the PD community.
- Education on various PD specific topics and available local and national resources for PWP and caregivers.
- Skilled clinical recommendations to address areas of concern identified by participants to promote improved daily function.
No prior training or therapy is required to participate in the program. Skilled physical, occupational & speech therapists with various years of clinical experience working with the PD population have designed and will administer this unique program that is adaptable for all performance and physical activity levels.
The program will have limited in person spots available. This program will be held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at Sage Outpatient Services beginning in September 2022.
A fee of $60 per month will be charged at the beginning of each month or a discounted up-front one-time fee of $330 will be charged for a 6-month membership at time of registration.
