THE CARE YOU NEED, WHEREVER YOU NEED IT

New Outpatient Patients

If you or a loved one wishes to become a part of our family and start taking steps towards recovery, here’s what you should know:

As a new patient, you probably have a few questions. No need to worry, we’re here to give you everything you or your loved one needs to get started. The best thing to do is contact us and we’ll give you a free consultation to appropriate course of treatment.

Outpatient care differs in that you won’t be housed with us. Don’t worry; you will still receive the same dedicated care. We have created a list of frequently asked questions to better serve your needs. If you don’t see your question here, or simply wish to learn more, contact us today!

Is a doctor’s order or referral required for me to have therapy?

Most of the time, yes. A physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant can sign your order to begin therapy. In special circumstances, a request is not required for physical therapy through direct access, social work services, and neuropsychology services. We also offer website inquiry.

I want to view the facility and speak with a therapist about a loved one or myself. How can I go about this?

We conduct facility tours at varying times each day. Please give us a call at 225-906-4097 if there is a specific type of therapist you would like to speak with.

How do the Day Neuro program and Outpatient program differ?

Skilled therapy with a physical, occupational, speech therapist and social worker are offered in each program. Patients in the Outpatient program come only to see their therapist(s) and leave for the day where Day Neuro program participants come for their therapist(s), participate in leisure activities, groups, and tech time.

What is “Tech Time”?

Tech time is a free service offered by our facility for patients who will benefit from additional exercise time outside of their session with their therapist. Tech time is run by a trained therapy technician where specific exercises chosen by your evaluating therapist(s) are carried out.

How long do evaluation appointments typically last and what can I expect on my first day of therapy?

The typical evaluation is 60 minutes per therapy discipline. If you are being evaluated for more than one discipline, expect to stay one hour for each different therapist you are seeing. At the conclusion of your evaluations, the therapy team will provide you with recommendations for some days per week you will benefit from therapy and duration to stay each day. After collaboration with your therapy team, the optimal therapy program and schedule specific to your needs will be planned.

What should I wear to my therapy appointment?

Wear what you feel most comfortable in! Most patients feel comfortable in loose fitting shorts, pants, tennis shoes, and shirt.

Who can I speak with about having a specific appointment time?

The business office and scheduling department can assist you with changing your appointment or rescheduling appointments for a different day or time. If you need an appointment time outside of our normal hours (8:00-4:00), please give us a call to see if we can accommodate your specific needs. We often can accommodate 7am – 5pm appointment.

I think my friend or family member can benefit from therapy too. What should their next step in recovery be?

Your friend or family member can accompany you to a therapy session and speak with a therapist, come in for a tour of the facility, or speak with a therapist about their condition over the phone to determine if therapy may be needed.
